Awaysuitcase

Turning one of Away's iconic suitcases into a larger-than-life public installation was a unique challenge that combined sculpture, fabrication, and brand storytelling. Created at Smash Designs for a New York City marketing campaign, the oversized suitcase transformed a familiar everyday object into an unforgettable street presence.

My contributions included sculpting, assembly, fabrication, and finishing work throughout the build. One of the most rewarding aspects of the project was helping preserve the clean, minimalist design of the original luggage while scaling it to a monumental size. Every detail had to feel authentic, from the proportions and surface finish to the recognizable features that define the Away brand.

Seeing the finished sculpture installed on the streets of New York City was an exciting experience and a reminder of how fabrication can turn ordinary objects into larger-than-life moments.
