Doñ Julio

Inspired by the vibrant traditions and visual language of Día de los Muertos, this Don Julio sculpture was brought to life through a detailed hand-painted finish completed during my time at Smash Designs.

My role focused on painting and surface development, layering bold colors, intricate patterns, and decorative details across the sculpture to create a rich and energetic final appearance. Deep blues, vibrant reds, golden yellows, and bright greens worked together to emphasize the celebratory nature of the design while enhancing the dimensional sculptural forms beneath.

What I enjoyed most about this project was the opportunity to use color as a storytelling tool. Every layer added depth, movement, and personality to the piece, making it one of the most visually rewarding painting projects I contributed to at Smash Designs.
